How do I use MailBrowser Sidebar?
  1. Using MailBrowser Sidebar with Internet Explorer (IE)
    You can open MailBrowser Sidebar by clicking on the MailBrowser shortcut at the CommandBar (top right corner)



  2. Using MailBrowser Sidebar with Mozilla Firefox
    You can open MailBrowser Sidebar by clicking on the MailBrowser shortcut at the Status Bar (bottom right corner)



  3. Using MailBrowser Sidebar with Google Chrome
    You can open MailBrowser Sidebar by clicking on the MailBrowser shortcut at the top right corner

Which operating systems are supported?
MailBrowser currently works on Windows XP and above, Mac OS X 10.5+

Which browsers are supported?
MailBrowser currently supports Internet Explorer(IE) 7+, Mozilla Firefox 3.0+ and Google Chrome*

* Make sure that your copy of Google Chrome supports extension.
  As of now (2nd Feb 2010), only Dev Channel builds of Google Chrome for Mac support extensions

Does MailBrowser transmit my password?
None of your emails, contacts, or passwords are sent to MailBrowser servers or any third parties. Mailbrowser keeps your authentication details, contacts, attachments and other required information in your hard-disk. It never exchanges Gmail's authentication details and its content to anyone else other than Gmail

How does MailBrowser work?
MailBrowser consists of two components. One is the desktop application that downloads all your mails and contacts to your hard-disk. The other is the sidebar for browsers. The sidebar fetches the relevant information when you are reading your mails. The sidebar is the primary UI for MailBrowser

Where is my data saved?
The operating system determines the location. Below is the list:
  1. Windows 7 or Vista
    C:\Users\<user>\MailBrowser Attachments
  2. Windows XP
    C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\MailBrowser Attachments
  3. Mac OS X
    ~/MailBrowser Attachments/
Should I keep the sidebar/browser open for MailBrowser to download my contacts & attachments?
No. Once the correct authentication details are entered, MailBrowser downloads the contacts & attachments in the background. As soon as a new mail arrives MailBrowser extracts the attachment & other information from it

Can I add multiple email accounts?
Yes, you can add any number of email accounts to MailBrowser

Can I use MailBrowser without an Internet connection?
Yes, you can browse your contacts & attachments through the MailBrowser Sidebar even when you don't have an Internet connection. You can also directly goto the folder where the attachments are stored. All attachments are neatly arranged by the sender

MailBrowser is already running, but Firefox sidebar says "Start MailBrowser application"?
Please un-check Work Offline option from Firefox File menu and then click "try again" in sidebar

How do I check if Gmail's IMAP port is reachable?
To check if Gmail's IMAP port is reachable from your system try this from the command line: telnet imap.gmail.com 993. If you don't get any error then port is reachable.

In Windows Vista and Windows 7, telnet may not be installed by default. To install telnet follow these instructions:
  1. Click the Start button start button, click Control Panel, click Programs and Features, and then click Turn Windows features on or off. alert icon If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  2. In the Windows Features dialog box, select the Telnet Client check box.
  3. Click OK. The installation might take several minutes.
